Virgin Voyages Changed the MNVV Rules. Here’s What You Need to Know
By now, you MUST have heard that Virgin Voyages made some pretty big changes to the My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) rules.
And yes, there is a lot to unpack.
MNVVs have long been one of my favorite ways for Sailors to get extra value toward their next Virgin Voyages vacation. If you knew you were going to sail again, grabbing an MNVV onboard was almost always something I recommended.
The program is still here, and MNVVs can still offer some fabulous benefits, but the rules surrounding how you can use them have changed quite a bit.
So, let’s talk about what’s different.

Understanding Virgin Voyages pricing, promotions, and onboard perks before you book.
Virgin Voyages MNVV Rules: No More Name Transfers
This is probably the BIGGEST change, especially for Sailors who have purchased multiple MNVVs in the past.
Under the new rules, MNVVs can no longer simply be transferred to another Sailor. The person who purchases the MNVV needs to be the person using it.
There is an exception.
Name transfers are still allowed on Rockstar and premium bookings.
That means if you were used to purchasing several MNVVs onboard and later transferring one to a friend or family member who decided they wanted to sail, that flexibility is mostly gone.
This also changes how I recommend approaching MNVVs. Don’t buy a bunch just because you can. Think about how many Virgin voyages you realistically expect to take and purchase accordingly.

The Two-Year Rule Is Gone
Now for a change that actually gives Sailors MORE flexibility.
Previously, MNVVs came with a two-year window to book and sail. Virgin has now removed that two-year rule and replaced it with a different system.
You’ll have one year to choose and book your voyage.
But here is the really important part.
During that year, you can change your voyage as many times as you want.
So maybe you book something and then realize another itinerary works better. Maybe your vacation dates change. Maybe Virgin releases something new that suddenly looks WAY more exciting.
You aren’t necessarily locked into that first choice.
As long as you’re working within that one-year period, you have much more freedom to move your MNVV booking around.
So, Are MNVVs Still Worth It?
YES.
I still think MNVVs can be a fantastic way to secure extra value toward your next Virgin Voyages vacation, especially if you’re already onboard and know this isn’t going to be your last time sailing with Virgin.
You just need to be a little more strategic about purchasing them.
The days of grabbing several MNVVs because you might use them yourself, give one to a friend, or figure it all out two years from now are over.
Instead, think about your own travel plans and how likely you are to sail again.
And remember that not every MNVV is necessarily the same. Virgin has changed the program and its benefits multiple times, so an MNVV purchased previously may have different benefits and rules than one purchased today.

This Is Why I Keep Up With This Stuff
Virgin changes things. Promotions change. Programs change. Rules change.
And sometimes they change FAST.
That’s why I don’t want my Sailors making decisions based on a Facebook comment from six months ago or what someone remembers doing with their MNVV three cruises back.
If you already have an MNVV, we can look at exactly what you have and figure out the best way to use it. If you’re sailing soon and wondering whether you should purchase one onboard, we can talk about that too.
MNVVs aren’t going away. They’re just changing.
And as always, I’ll help you navigate the new rules and make sure you’re getting as much value as possible out of your next Virgin Voyages adventure.
Because nobody wants to leave Sailor Services thinking, “Wait… I thought I could do WHAT with this?”
